Very exciting news for you all — FilmLAB is back for a ”Weekend Jam” edition and the time to enter is now!

We are proud to announce the start of the 12th edition of CinemAsia FilmLAB 2023. We call upon all filmmakers out there to submit their script or idea toward the FilmLAB ”Weekend Jam” edition, which is a shortened version of the original FilmLAB program. Within one production weekend, you will collaborate with like minded filmmakers and together we will make your idea come to life!

CinemAsia FilmLAB situated in the Netherlands, provides a special community to the voices of the Asian Diaspora in Europe. FilmLAB is an exciting accelerated learning platform and a once in a lifetime opportunity to connect, engage, expose and of course to have fun during the process of filmmaking. Accompanied with mentors and a chance to have your work shown on the silver screen during the annual CinemAsia Film Festival 2023.

FILMLAB “WEEKEND JAM”

This short-film program is open to all filmmakers, Asian diaspora filmmakers and Asian stories encouraged. You can either participate as team or individual. Application roles are:

  • Producer*
  • Cinematographer
  • Art director
  • Sound director
  • Actor/actress

*Director, scriptwriter and producer must be of Asian descent.

DEADLINE – 28 Dec 2022

ONLINE MEET & GREET – *3 Jan 2023

FINAL SELECTION – 5 Jan 2023

PRODUCTION WEEKENDS – 28-29 Jan, 4-5 Feb, 11-12 Feb 2023

(*All applicants must keep this date free)

HOW TO ENTER

Directors/scriptwriters need to submit their script/idea (length 5-12 mins) and motivation letter before 28 DEC 2022 via Google Form

(Other roles only need a motivation letter)

Five applications will be invited for the Online Meet & Greet on 3 Jan 2023. Three scripts* will be selected on 5 Jan 2023 to proceed with the team formation, which will happen right after the announcement. 

*Number of scripts will be based on number of participants
