โ†’ Envision a hotel packed with art and culture curated by Broedplaats VKG, International Queer & Migrant Film Festival, Linda Lugtenborg, NON NATIVE NATIVE & Pisswife zine. Stroll from room to room and โ€œImagine a World Otherwiseโ€.

Volkshotel presents the very first edition of Rooms of Reflection, an art expedition through the hotel in which the work of young urbanites will be presented in a special setting. From visual art, film and workshops in hotel rooms, theatre in the rooftop bar to performances, installations and music in the basement sound bar Doka.

Rooms of Reflection focuses on urban art and culture involving creative collaborations from Amsterdam. Proposing โ€˜Imagine a World Otherwiseโ€™ as the main theme, a multidisciplinary programme has been assembled by a diverse group of curators. Using art as their tool, the curators challenge the dominant perspectives and narratives in Dutch society by reflecting and relating to the life of others. Drift through the hotel and get inspired by a new wave of creatives.

Linda Lugtenborg makes raw theatre productions with a punk attitude. She will perform an alternate take on her performance Ode To A Mistress. This solo show is a journey filled with lush adventures of โ€˜the other womanโ€™. A monologue about boiling lava, true love, and an attraction that canโ€™t be stopped. From french kissing next to the glass container to cycling back to Noord, alone.

Pisswife is an Amsterdam based feminist collective and zine with contributors from Amsterdamโ€™s generation Z. From the very beginning, theyโ€™ve pushed the envelope through their on- and offline presence and have created a safe space that reflects the ideals of Pisswife in real life. During Rooms of Reflection they will craft a subversive commentary on political issues through art, workshops, and film.

Broedplaats -in the back wing of Volkshotel- is the place for experiments and creativity. Here you can find the creative minds that once saved this building from being demolished. These artists will transform Werkplaats on the ground floor and the basement sound bar, Doka into an immersive experience.
